Perth to Uluru

Thursday 21st October
Automated check in is easy and labour saving – Not!
The machine failed to recognise either our passports or our booking reference, so we ended up getting a real person to do it for us – and even she had trouble.
The flight was delayed for over an hour due to “engineering work” – very reassuring! At least the domestic airport was quiet and calm. It was an excellent flight, good information and extremely pleasant and helpful cabin crew. The views over the Red Centre were incredible. Thousands of miles of what could have been the surface of Mars. Some of the geographical features were so different from anything we’ve ever seen.
Finally we got our first sight of Uluru and landed at the tiny airport which serves the resort and small community.
We thought the view from our room in Perth was great, but how about this?!

To end the day we walked up to a viewing point on a small hill to watch the sunset. Perfect!
